RAS has introduced a pre-registration form for a first ever measure 

Owners with a new horse or pony that has never had a RAS height

Certificate issued can pre-register with the RAS Head Office and receive

a height certificate from them before they go to a measuring stand. All

applicable information such as horse/pony name, sex, colour, birth year

and classification will be populated on the form for presentation at the

measuring stand where the measure can be recorded. Applicable fees are paid

to RAS at the time of pre-registration. to learn more about the pre-registration

Measuring Health & Safety Rules

• Horses/Ponies (excluding miniatures) 3 years and over are required to be presented for measuring in a bridle and shall have a bit in their mouth. The reins or the lead shall be connected to the bit.

• Handlers to be 14 years and over, except for Stallions over 148cm which must have handler 17 years and over AND a second handler.

• Handlers to wear enclosed shoes, preferably safety-toe.

• The Measuring area should be clear of handlers and owners when waiting for measuring.

• No Children under 6 years to be in the vicinity of the measuring area.

• No horses will be measured if suspected of any forbidden substance, and testing may be carried out as per the RAS rules.

• Owners are responsible for cleaning up their horse droppings.

• Entering the measuring stand is at your own risk.

Extra Information

• Only horses/ponies booked will be measured on the day – do not arrive with extras and expect them to be measured.

• Each horse/pony requires a booking.

• All horses over 3 years must be presented in bridles.

• The RAS Height certificate must be presented for re-measuring.

• If you have an old style height card which does not has no room for additional annual measures, or have the space for a Life Measurement, you must also apply to the RAS for a new card.

• Missing lost or stolen cards must be purchased through the RAS Office, *** they cannot be issued on the stand***

• Please arrive at least 15 minutes before schedules appointment.

• Horses/ponies should be appropriately presented with feet recently trimmed.

• LIFE Measures are available for horses and/or ponies 8 years and over or upon attaining 168cm. Forms are available by contacting the office and must be completed by your vet prior to arrival at the measuring stand.

• We reserve the right to charge the relevant Measuring Fee for missed appointments without prior cancellation.
